It is now generally recognized that the diagnosis of enteric infection by the agglutination test requires a degree of precision, the need for which has become more apparent only within recent years. It was strongly emphasized in a previous communication (Soman, 1932) that in order to minimize the chances of errors in the diagnosis by methods of agglutination alone, a clot culture should be made from the same sample of blood.
